MOXHI is an Amsterdam-based social enterprise that works directly with skilled craftsmen in Argentina to create a range of handcrafted leather backpacks and bags. MOXHI is the result of a spontaneous friendship between Tobias de Graaf, who was travelling in Argentina, and two local craftsmen Leonardo and Cecilia, who make beautiful Mochilas (backpacks!). MOXHI is a play on words that combines Mochilas, with the word ‘Moxy’ which alludes to the courage it took these unlikely friends to come together and create something wonderful.

The MOXHI Philosophy
MOXHI stands for fair trade and sustainable values. The MOXHI artisans are all independent entrepreneurs who are able to set their own schedules and production, and are compensated fairly for their contributions. Their relationships with MOXHI are founded in mutual respect, as well as a respect for natural resources and the environment. MOXHI exclusively uses vegetable-tanned leather that is locally sourced from free-roaming cows in the region.
"While I was working at the Dutch embassy, I came across Leonardo in a market and it just clicked - we became friends and have been ever since." - Tobias de Graaf, Founder
